What a Licensed Agent Can Help You Compare

Metal Tiers and Total Cost

Look at premium, deductible, and out-of-pocket maximum together, not just the monthly price.

Doctors and Hospitals

Check whether the providers you use are in a plan's network before you choose.

Prescription Coverage

See whether your medications are covered and at what cost under each plan.

What You Should Know

Look Past the Premium

A low monthly premium often comes with a higher deductible. Comparing the full picture, including your expected care and prescriptions, usually gives a truer sense of what a plan may cost you.

Self-Employed or Gig Work?

If your income varies, Marketplace help paying for coverage is based on your estimated income for the year, and you can update that estimate if it changes. Some self-employed people may also be able to deduct premiums, so ask a tax professional.

You can enroll directly through HealthCare.gov at no cost, or call 1-800-318-2596 (TTY 1-855-889-4325). Our licensed agent partners provide an alternative path with personalized guidance, also at no cost to you.

ACA Plan Questions, Answered

Is Pick My ACA affiliated with HealthCare.gov or the government?

No. Pick My ACA is an independent advertising and marketing service. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. government, CMS, HealthCare.gov, the Health Insurance Marketplace, or any federal or state agency, and it is not an insurance company or licensed agent. You can also enroll directly at HealthCare.gov or by calling 1-800-318-2596 (TTY 1-855-889-4325).

How do I compare ACA Marketplace plans?

Compare total cost, not just the monthly premium, and check that your doctors and prescriptions are covered. Our blog guide to comparing ACA plans walks through each step, and a licensed agent can help you line options up for your household.

What is the difference between Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum plans?

The metal tier describes how costs are shared between you and the plan, not the quality of care. Bronze plans usually have the lowest premiums and highest out-of-pocket costs, Platinum the reverse, with Silver and Gold in between. Cost-sharing reductions apply only to Silver plans for those who qualify.

Can I get help paying for an ACA plan?

Many households qualify for premium tax credits based on income and household size, and some may qualify for cost-sharing reductions. Eligibility and amounts are determined by HealthCare.gov or your state Marketplace, not by Pick My ACA or its agent partners.

When can I sign up for ACA coverage?

On HealthCare.gov, Open Enrollment for 2027 coverage is currently listed as November 1 to January 15, and enrolling by December 15 generally means coverage starts January 1. State-based Marketplaces set their own dates, and some run later. Outside Open Enrollment, you generally need a Special Enrollment Period triggered by a qualifying life event, such as losing other coverage, moving, marriage, or having a baby. Confirm current dates on HealthCare.gov or your state Marketplace.

Does it cost anything to speak with an agent?

No. Submitting the form and talking with a licensed agent partner is free and carries no obligation to enroll. Pick My ACA may receive compensation from its agent and broker partners for referrals.

What happens after I submit the form?

You may be contacted by phone, text, or email by a licensed health insurance agent or broker in our partner network who can walk through the options in your area. Consent to be contacted is not a condition of purchase, and you can opt out at any time.
